The American Institute of Mechatronic Engineers was established at California State University, Chico, the first school to offer an ABET accredited Mechatronic Engineering degree. Mechatronics is a hybrid of mechanical and electrical engineering, with attention to control systems. Graduates of the Mechatronics program often work in fields of automation and robotics.
AIME, as the institute is called for short, enhances the core Mechatronics curriculum by providing a convenient and fun method of networking, providing technical workshops to students in areas directly sought by employers, and sponsoring student projects, such as the Intelligent Ground Vehicle Team.
